DAY 1 - TRANSFER TO THE HOTEL – “CHULLPAS DE SILLUSTANI

DAY 1

TRANSFER TO THE HOTEL – “CHULLPAS DE SILLUSTANI

  • Arrival at the airport or the bus station in the city of Juliaca.
  • Reception by a member of our staff, who will give you the necessary assistance and then be transferred to the city of Puno, capital of the country's living cultures and which houses the highest navigable lake in the world “Lake Titicaca” and he/ she accompany you to the hotel chosen and he/she will assist you with your luggage and registration procedures.
  • On the way to the hotel we will visit one of the most important archaeological sites of Puno “the Chullpas of Sillustani”, 34 km northwest of the city of Puno.

The chullpas of Sillustani were pre-Inca tombs and massive Inca stone up to 12 meters high, built by religious leaders kollas and Incas almost 3000 years ago to bury important leaders. There are more than 90 chullpas of different sizes and shapes. The lagoon Umayo is located at the foot of the chullpas which adds a great beauty to the landscape. In this ecosystem you will be able to observe different types of birds and different wild animals, as well as the system of agriculture called "waru waru" that served as a protection for the cultures of the frost, this technique was constructed by the Pucara culture and developed by the Incas, the local population is still using these systems.

DAY 2 - TOUR PUNO – UROS + ISLA TAQUILE - PUNO

  • Transfer to “Puerto de Puno”.
  • We will take A 25-minute boat trip to the island of Uros.
    Fishermen and hunters inhabit the floating islands of the Uros. Residents of the Uros use the totora (aquatic plant) that grows in the lake to build their islands, homes, to cook and eat, as well as the dense roots that these plants generate the island. Currently the population speaks “Aymará” language; there are about 50 artificial islands and the raft is the only means of transportation used.

A trip to the island of Taquile, located in the area of ​​the greater lake, famous for its production of handicrafts and its beautiful textiles (declared cultural heritage of mankind). In addition, people still practice the principles of Inca morality like "Ama Sua" (not steal) "Ama Quella" (do not be idle) and "Ama Lulla" (not to lie). Currently living about 2000 people, the villagers wear a very special cap (singles, married or authorities). Visiting the non-tourist areas, you will appreciate temples, tombs and terraces of the pre-Inca period (Pucará), its landscapes, techniques of traditional cultivation and their ancestral customs. This visit may be tiring, due to the 565 steps that must be taken to descend towards the main port and by the altitude (13, 000 feet / 4,030 meters above sea level), but worth the effort.

Return to Puno. Overnight in Puno.

 

DAY 3 - PUNO - EXIT TRANSFER

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
