Reception at the airport of Iquitos or pick up from the chosen hotel. During the tour you will be offered a brief tour of the city of Iquitos, observing the main tourist attractions of this powerful and historic city of eastern Peru that in the 19th century passed from small town to the most important river port in the Amazon acquiring a surprising cosmopolitan condition during the so-called "Rubber Fever".

Transfer to the pier to start the boat trip to the lodge.

You will sail through the world's largest river, the Amazon River, aboard comfortable and safe boats.

Arrival to the Amazon Sinchicuy Lodge which is located 45 minutes (NE downstream) from Iquitos. Our hostel, built in the native style with natural materials, is surrounded by trees, plants and flowers, a true tropical garden on high non-flooding land or "restinga", where there are many varieties of birds and butterflies. Our staff will welcome you with a welcome refreshment made with local fruit (cocona, camu-camu, tazaazú, etc.).

A brief explanation of the rules governing the sustainability of the lodge and its surroundings, allowing you to know more about ways to make your permanence and participation in ecotourism activities more rewarding.

Accommodation according to the type of room selected.

ECOCULTURAL Circuit (Ecosystem of the Sinchicuy River Basin)

Excursion on foot or by canoe - as the station permits - to "New Peru", where the Yagua community is established, whose ancestors were discovered by Francisco de Orellana in his first exploration of the Amazon in 1541. This visit will allow you to know their ancestral customs, appreciate their original clothing of palm fibers and even test the pucuna (blowpipe) that the Yaguas used for centuries for hunting.

Return to the hostel.

Lunch. The gastronomy in the Amazon Sinchicuy Lodge stands out because it involves natural and fresh products that produce the river and the "chakra". Golden fish fillets (Brachyplatystoma flavicans) accompanied by coconuts sauce, regional vegetable salads, yucca, beans and fried plantains, a real treat that is another attraction of the jungle.

In the afternoon you will undertake the ethnobotanical excursion. You will be able to know very particular species of the vegetal kingdom like cat's claw, sour cane, copaiba, aguaje and even the call "rope of the dead" or ayahuasca.

Visit the local naturist (Shaman), explain about the wonderful properties and use of some plants and roots.

Tour through the river bottom of Santa Maria de Ojeal, where you will observe some of the productive activities developed by its inhabitants. Artisanal extraction of sugarcane juice, fruit orchards, fish farm with native species, cattle raising.

You will be able to interact with the villagers while observing their typical houses, schools, church and shops; it will also appreciate the sustainability projects that the community has been developing through ecotourism.

At night, the forest and its habitants allow us to enjoy sounds and unique sensations. The guide will indicate the moment when the canoe or walking tour will begin, which will lead you to discover, in a flashlight, the mysterious world of nocturnal insects, cicadas, spiders, praying mantis, etc. It will also distinguish the songs of the owls and the "ayaymamas" which are interpreted as the language of fantastic beings in the local imagination.

Ending in the evening, nothing more pleasant than enjoying an appetizing meal.

The guide will explain the activities for the next day.

During the early hours of the morning (05:00 a 06:00 a.m.), it is the right time to be able to observe many of the species of birds that feed on the banks of the river or of the plantations that are in the environs of the community.

Breakfast. Fresh juices and fruit jams that are produced in the region (pawpaw, orange, melon, Coconuts) accompany hot dishes and drinks to start the morning.

Immediately after breakfast you will board the boat that will take you to the opposite end of the Amazon or as it is said in the regional language to the "Huashalado". During this approximately 40-minute journey the boat will stop at a place on the river where it is usually possible to observe "pink dolphins", due to its somewhat shy nature, you must have patience and be attentive to see them, with an unforgettable photo will reward the effort.

When you reach the Huashalado community, you will see plantations of cassava, banana, pawpaw and other typical products of riverside agriculture. You will notice that unlike the Sinchicuy ecosystem the terrain here is mostly low and floodable during the growing season. By boat or canoe you will follow the course of the Yanayacu River to explore this area rich in avian fauna, among whose species there are kingfishers, hawks, herons, etc. And finally after a time of travel by the dark waters of the river Yanayacu arrived at our shelter.

A walk through the jungle that will take you to the "Kingdom of the Giant Trees" will see some species of medicinal plants, such as the "Sachajergón", the "Ojé", the "tree bread" and the well-known "cat's claw" (Uncaria Tomentosa); it is also possible to find bromeliads (epiphytic plants) growing on top of trees. But undoubtedly the one that causes the greatest admiration, among the trees is the "Lupuna" (Ceiba pentandra) that can surpass 50 meters in height.

Depending on the season (June - September) and the weather, we will visit the Yaguacocha Lagoon, where it is possible to observe the most representative aquatic plant, the "regal victory" and the Hoatzín (Opisthocomus hoatzin) which feeds on aquatic flora. This is an exciting walk in which your spirit of adventure will emerge and you will certainly enjoy it.

Return to the Lodge.

After a stop for lunch, you will enjoy an interesting fishing trip in the river using native techniques that will allow you to catch piranhas, mojarras, smooth or some other species of fish that are considered a true delicacy in riverside cuisine.

Travel back to the Amazon Sinchicuy Lodge.

Upon arrival, you will have time to relax in the hammocks, in the viewpoint or at the "Clavohuasca Bar", refreshing yourself with a nice cold drink or experiencing different sensations with a fantastic regional aphrodisiac.

You will also have canoes for a stroll through the calm waters of the Sinchicuy River before dark.

Dinner and overnight.
